Avoid the stress of traffic and parking at the airport by taking the direct S1 connection from the city centre to the Hamburg Airport terminals. Trains depart every 10 minutes.
The S1 to the airport - how it works:
- Journey Time: You can get from Hamburg Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) in the city centre to the airport within 25 minutes- A fast connection between regional and long-distance trains and flights.
- Fares: You can travel from Hamburg Central Station to the airport for as little as EUR 3.80. Needless to say, 9 am Day Tickets, All-Day tickets and all season tickets are also valid on this route. HVV tickets - further information
- Validation: The date and time of purchase are stated on hvv tickets. They are already validated and do not have to be stamped again on board the train.
- Tickets: At the airport, tickets are available from the machines at the baggage carousels in the Arrivals area or between the Arrivals level and the train platform or at the Hamburg Welcome Center on the Arrivals level of Terminal 2.
- Turning S1 into two: Passengers have to pay attention on the platform: if you are travelling from the city centre to the airport, board one of the first three cars, because the S1 trains split up at Ohlsdorf. The front section of the train runs to the airport, the last three cars go to Poppenbüttel.
- Intervals: S1 trains depart every 10 minutes between 6.00 and 23.00 h and at 20-minute intervals at other times. The first S-Bahn train reaches the airport as early as 4.28 h and the last train to the city centre does not depart until 0.14 h.
The station 'Hamburg Airport (Flughafen)' is located directly underneath the terminals. Elevators and escalators provide an easy access up to the terminals and airline check-in desks. So even if you have bulky luggage, you can continue your journey to and from the airport quickly and conveniently. Monitors, which are located at the platform, provide information regarding flight arrivals and departures. At terminal level, there are display boards with information about train departures from the central railway station.
Being our passenger contributes to protecting the environment. The Hamburg S-Bahn has been running exclusively on green electricity since 2010 and is therefore carbon-neutral.
You can look forward to a relaxing journey to Hamburg Airport for your next flight by taking the Hamburg S-Bahn.
